LIVE FREE LIVE RIGHTEOUS CONCERT A HUGE SUCCESS

THUNDER BAY, ON: Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation (LDMLFN) Chief Whitecloud (Judy Maunula) and Council are pleased to announce the success of the Live Free Live Righteous Concert, a free community-centred event, which took place yesterday at Fort William Historical Park.

“It was absolutely incredible to see so many people of all ages and backgrounds come out to support this event, and what it stood for, and the amazing musicians who made it possible,” said Event Coordinator, Anthony Maunula. “Live Free Live Righteous was all about getting people together to not only take in some great music, but to more importantly show their support for positive values like respect, equality and diversity.”

Hosted by the Anishinabe community of LDMLFN, Live Free Live Righteous featured the visiting talents of six groups, including the Juno Award winning group, A Tribe Called Red. As a member of the Thunder Bay Respect Campaign and Diversity Thunder Bay, LDMLFN held this event in support of the ongoing initiatives happening in the District of Thunder Bay to support positive social values and community growth including anti-racism, anti-bullying, anti-hate, and gender equality.

“There are many negative attitudes and behaviours that people...especially our youth and young adults face every day,” said Chief Whitecloud. “We need to be able to provide positive alternatives and come together as a community at large, and support each other. In order to initiate change, we must be willing to make a personal commitment to living life in a good way...walking a good path formed through positive, healthy choices.”

Thousands of spectators attended the outdoor concert, which lasted eight (8) hours. During the event, funds were raised for local organization, The Boys and Girls Club, through a refreshment stand operated by Outland Reforestation. Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation is an Anishinabe community located approximately 135 kilometres west of the City of Thunder Bay.
