The Annual Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation Elders Gathering will be held in Thunder Bay, Ontario this May 15, 16, and 17, 2015 at the Victoria Inn.  We believe that this event is an integral part of the healing process that our First Nation is experiencing, as we move ever closer to our goal of returning to our homeland and coming together as a Community. We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation Official Logo Design Contest is Ashlynn Dolph.  After receiving many creative entries, Ashlynn’s design was chosen. Please join us in congratulating Ashlynn on her winning logo design. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who had participated in the contest. Community Drum Night We are currently compiling a list of Community Members who are interested in attending Community Drum Night.  In 2013, we were honoured with a drum that was presented to the Community by Rob Spade and Celeste Pedri.  A name has been put forth by an Elder, and its name means “Whirlwind” after a dream was shared about this drum.  Chi Miigwetch for your gift!   It is our hopes that we can gather interested Community Members to begin holding regular drumming sessions.  These sessions will include teachings about the drum, learning songs and their meanings, and a whole lot of practice.  Rob Spade, a ...
