Boozhoo! We have had good feedback, suggestions and discussions from our members on the Draft Housing Policy. We have now incorporated the following changes (outlined in red - pages 33 and 34.) The review period is still open for another 3 weeks. We welcome and look forward to hearing back from our band and community members with your feedback. As discussed at the AGM/Community meeting on Monday Jan 8th, a review of the Housing Policy is underway. The time period for community review began Jan 4th, when the policy was posted to the website, and will end Jan 19th. The Housing Policy and By-Laws were developed by the Housing Committee and professionally reviewed by Roxanne Harper, of Turtle Island Associates. A number of recommendations came out of this review and they have all been addressed and incorporated into the current policy and by-laws. They were further reviewed by a legal firm specializing in this area, Mike Strickland of Buset & Partners LLP, to ensure they are all legally sound.
