Chief and Council of Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation extend their congratulations to Prime Minister Elect Justin Trudeau and his Liberal team for their majority victory last evening.

“On behalf of our community, I would like to congratulate the Liberal Party for their majority government election victory last evening,” stated Chief Whitecloud. “I look forward to the work ahead, as we continue to move forward in a good way in order to best meet the needs of our Community members, First Nation peoples and the lands we are entrusted to care for.”

The Liberal Party was victorious in 184 constituencies, forming a new majority government in yesterday’s election.

“I extend congratulations to LDMLFN Band Member Don Rusnak, Liberal MP for his victory in the Thunder Bay-Rainy River riding,” added Chief Whitecloud. “A record Ten (10) Indigenous liberal candidates were elected, and we are hopeful that this will bring about the change Trudeau promised with his ‘positive politics’, especially for our First Nations people and our territories.
