At the end of August, people of all ages came together to celebrate great music in support of ongoing community initiatives happening in the District of Thunder Bay that promote positive lifestyles and respectful relationships.
Proudly hosted by our community of Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation, the Live Free Live Righteous concert coordinated the musical talents of 6 electronic musical acts headlined by the Indigenous Juno-award winning group A Tribe Called Red.
Despite the chilly temperatures, entire families came out to Fort William Historical Park to listen to amazing music while making a personal commitment to living a life that reflects positive social values including respect, anti-racism, anti-bullying, anti-hate, and gender equality.
"Seeing all of the people who came out in support of the positive values Live Free Live Righteous is meant to promote re -affirms our belief that this is the type of event people in this community are hungry for,” said Event Coordinator and LDMLFN Band Member Anthony Maunula. “It's without question that this event would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors, volunteers and vision of our leadership …thank you to everyone who was part of this initiative. "
Building up to ATCR’s stellar performance, were five (5) additional amazing acts including Keys N Krates, Sydney Blu, D.O.D., Classic Roots, and Blacksheep. Both Classic Roots and Blacksheep are represented by AK Management, a Toronto -based company founded by LDMLFN Band Member Bruce Barber!
“It was really great to see so many people taking a stance against negative and harmful behaviours that divide our community” added LDMLFN Chief Whitecloud. “Given the success of this event, we are already planning ahead for next year!” For more information about Live Free Live Righteous please visit www.livefreeliverighteous.com
