Dear Band and Community Members, I am excited to announce a Community Health Needs Assessment for the Lac Des Mille Lacs First Nation in conjunction with Dr. Cheryl Everall of “The Joseph Esquega Health Center”. This study investigates the impact of legal and illegal substances such as tobacco, alcohol, opiates and prescription medication on Lac Des Mille Lacs First Nation band and community members. More importantly, as we move forward in rebuilding our community, this health care assessment has also been designed to help identify problematic areas and assess our needs to implement community based programs. We are very excited to announce that Dallan Forestry LP has been awarded the contracts for the Mill Yard Services at both the Ignace and Atikokan Sawmill sites! The Ignace Sawmill is expected to go into operation on or about December 10, 2014. We are now in the process of advertising job opportunities that are available at this site.
